HWS alum Robert Gale featured in CNN Chernobyl docuseries

Hobart alumnus and physician Robert P. Gale is featured in a CNN documentary series examining the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster and its continuing effects.

Gale appears in the second episode of "Disaster: The Chernobyl Meltdown," discussing his work in the Soviet Union coordinating medical relief and performing bone marrow transplants for people severely affected by radiation exposure.

The four-part series uses interviews and archival footage to examine the disaster, its human toll and its geopolitical consequences. It was produced by CNN, National Geographic International and Windfall Films.

Gale, a 1966 Hobart graduate, has spent more than four decades researching leukemia, bone marrow disorders, cancer immunology and the biological effects of radiation. He has published more than 950 scientific articles and 20 books, according to HWS.
