Investigators said the Jeep's driver was traveling northwest on Routes 5 and 20 and failed to stop at a steady red light while distracted by a cellphone. The Jeep then struck the eastbound pickup, which had the right of way, deputies said.
One person was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with a leg injury. Another was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital for evaluation.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Cheshire firefighters and Canandaigua Emergency Medical Services assisted deputies.
The Jeep's driver was cited for failing to stop at a steady red light and is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date, according to the sheriff's office.
