Montour Falls has been awarded up to $50,000 through a state grant program to assess cybersecurity risks in the village water system.
The Strengthening Essential Cybersecurity for Utilities and Resiliency Enhancement grant will pay for a comprehensive review aimed at identifying vulnerabilities and improving the system's resilience to cyber threats, village officials said.
The New York State Environmental Facilities Corp. administers the program and will determine the final grant amount after the project is complete and final costs are confirmed. Agency staff will work with the village on program requirements.
Mayor James Ryan said the review will help the village prepare for evolving threats and protect critical infrastructure serving residents and businesses.
The village expects to begin the assessment process in the coming weeks.
