Steuben County gets guiderail grant

Steuben County will receive nearly $1.6 million in state funding to replace aging guiderail on two county highways, according to the Hornell Tribune. County legislators approved acceptance of the grant July 27.

The money will support work on County Route 119 and County Route 11.

Officials said the project will replace about 20 miles of guiderail intended to reduce the severity of roadway departure crashes.

The funding comes through New York’s Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan.

County officials said construction scheduling and additional project details will be released later.
