A Savannah man was charged with first-degree rape and two other offenses following a Wayne County Sheriff's Office investigation into an alleged sexual assault.
Donald Allen, 44, was also charged with third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, the sheriff's office said Friday.
Investigators allege Allen became intoxicated while with a woman at his home Aug. 1, punched her in the face and choked her. The sheriff's office further alleges he sexually assaulted the woman after she told him no and tried to push him away.
Allen was taken to the Wayne County Jail to await centralized arraignment scheduled for 7 a.m. Friday, according to the release.
