A multiweek repaving project on Lake Avenue in Auburn is scheduled to begin Friday, Aug. 7, bringing daytime parking restrictions and partial lane closures through early September.
Northern Asphalt will work on Lake Avenue, also designated state Route 38, from Swift Street to the south city line near Auburn High School. The nearly $1 million project is funded through the state's Touring Route program.
The work is scheduled in three phases through Sept. 5, though the city said it could extend into early September. Vehicles must be removed from the street from 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. on workdays during milling, paving and utility adjustments.
Partial lane closures or reductions will be used as needed. The city advised drivers to use caution in the construction zone and said the goal is to complete the road before the first day of school.
The work is separate from the $9.5 million Lake Avenue Bridge rehabilitation, which has closed the bridge through July 16, 2027. Signed detours use Swift, South, Genesee, Owasco and South Fulton streets.
