The New York Yankees addressed another need before Monday’s MLB trade deadline, acquiring outfielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.
In exchange, New York is sending left-handed pitching prospect Henry Lalane, the organization’s No. 5 prospect, and infielder Kaeden Kent, its No. 13 prospect and the son of Hall of Famer Jeff Kent.
Ramos gives the Yankees another established bat as they continue to navigate injuries to Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton. The 26-year-old is batting .264 with a .728 OPS, nine home runs and 34 RBI in 74 games this season after earning his first National League All-Star selection in 2024, when he hit 22 home runs with 72 RBI. Primarily a left fielder, Ramos also has experience in right field and remains under team control through the 2029 season.

Before the deadline, New York was believed to be targeting an outfielder, bullpen help and catching depth. Hours before the trade, manager Aaron Boone expressed confidence in general manager Brian Cashman and the front office, saying they were “grinding away” to improve the roster for both the present and the future.
