Ithaca police arrested a man Thursday evening after a woman reported that her former boyfriend tried to cut her with a knife on West Village Place.
Officers responded to 150 West Village Place around 6:02 p.m. and found the woman with a cut in her pant leg, according to the Ithaca Police Department.
Police located Dennis Noonan nearby and took him into custody without further incident.
The department said charges were pending for first-degree attempted assault, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor; and second-degree harassment, a violation.
Noonan was awaiting arraignment when the police release was issued. The department did not report that the woman suffered a physical injury.

The allegations are accusations, and Noonan is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
