The Waterloo Library & Historical Society will host a free public event Aug. 3 featuring a lecture about women whose leadership, determination and service influenced American history and the Waterloo community.
"From Home and Beyond: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation" is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. in Fatzinger Hall at the society, 31 E. Williams St. in Waterloo.
The presentation will examine the lives and accomplishments of influential women from across the country while recognizing women who played significant roles in Waterloo's history. Organizers said the program will draw attention to stories that have often been overlooked.
The lecture is being presented with support from the New York State 250th Commission as part of an effort to commemorate people and events that shaped the nation's history.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be served after the presentation. More information is available from the Waterloo Library & Historical Society at 315-539-3313.
