Construction on a new, larger sewer line from the Kingdom Road pump station to the Seneca Falls wastewater treatment plant is expected to begin in early fall, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The 14-inch line is designed to handle increased wastewater flows from major commercial and industrial properties, including del Lago Resort & Casino, Waterloo Premium Outlets and Seneca Meadows.
The project will follow the West Bayard Street right of way after an earlier proposal to install the line along the Ludovico Sculpture Trail was abandoned following legal opposition.
Town Supervisor Frank Schmitter said crews will use drilling for most of the work instead of digging up the residential street.
The town plans to finance the roughly $6.5 million project through a zero-interest loan, with construction expected to take less than six months.
