Schuyler Head Start has been awarded a $1,373,892 federal grant to support early childhood education and family services in Schuyler County, according to Congressman Nick Langworthy's office.
The Department of Health and Human Services awarded the funding through the Head Start Projects program for education, health, nutrition and family support services for children and families.
Langworthy said Head Start helps children develop skills for school while connecting families with educational, health and support services. He said the program has an important role in rural communities.
The grant will support Schuyler Head Start's ongoing work to help children develop academic, social and emotional foundations for the classroom, according to the congressman's office.
