A 16-year-old from Ithaca was taken to a hospital after suffering head and knee injuries while cliff jumping into the West Branch Ausable River near Wilmington, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
The Wilmington Fire Department requested Forest Ranger assistance shortly before 6 on July 26 after the teenager was injured in the river's flume.
Firefighters retrieved the teenager from the water before Forest Rangers assisted with a technical rope rescue to raise the patient up a steep slope.
Wilmington EMS transported the teenager to a hospital after the rescue. DEC did not provide additional information about the teen's condition.
