Salt City & State Games bring 100 teens to Green Lakes State Park

About 100 teens from the greater Syracuse area will take part in outdoor competitions Tuesday during the Salt City & State Games at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation's Ladders to the Outdoors program and a partnership with the Syracuse Parks and Recreation Department.

Participants will represent the Boys & Girls Club of Syracuse, Syracuse Parks and Recreation, the Dunbar Center, Huntington Family Centers and Onondaga Earth Corps.

Teams will rotate through eight challenges: kayak racing, archery, compass navigation, tug-of-war, tent setup, disc golf, capture the flag and a recreation obstacle course. The groups will earn points through the skill-based and team-building activities.

Ladders to the Outdoors is a statewide public-private partnership intended to help underserved young people access state parks and outdoor recreation experiences.
