Former New York State Police recruit Daiana M. Doran alleges she was partially strip-searched at the Albany academy during an April investigation into a banned Apple Watch, according to the Times Union.
Doran was fired May 5 for what the agency described as integrity issues, and her state police certification was revoked one week later.
Her notice of claim says troopers searched her dorm room, ordered her to remove several items of clothing and scanned her body with a metal detector, but no watch was found.
State Police deny that Doran was strip-searched and say she remained clothed while female troopers inspected her body armor after receiving complaints that she had concealed the device.
Doran’s attorney argues the search, termination and decertification were improper, while the agency maintains she violated academy rules and was untruthful during its investigation.
