An early morning four-alarm fire prompted officials to ask people to avoid part of North Plain Street in Ithaca on Saturday, according to 14850. The fire was reported near the Red & White Cafe, and the warning covered the 400 block between Court and Esty streets.
The initial call was dispatched at 5:12 in the morning after a caller reported a house fire.
Ithaca firefighters were joined by off-duty and volunteer personnel, along with trucks and crews from Cayuga Heights, Lansing, and Newfield.
The Ithaca Fire Department posted an alert shortly after the call saying crews were battling a house fire.
Officials asked residents to avoid the area for at least six hours, and there were no immediate reports of injuries.
