Two drivers were injured Saturday morning in a two-car crash at County Road 4 and Freshour Road in Hopewell, including a Naples man who was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the intersection around 8:09 a.m. and found both vehicles heavily damaged after they left the road and entered a nearby yard.
Deputies said Glenn R. Owen, 43, of Naples was driving north on Freshour Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign at County Road 4. His vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Matthew M. Klestinec, 30, of Geneva, according to the release.
The impact sent both vehicles into a yard at the northeast corner of the intersection. Klestinec's vehicle overturned and came to rest upright on the lawn.
Klestinec was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and released. Owen was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for injuries to his head and back and was listed in stable condition when the release was issued.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The road was closed for about three and a half hours while the Ontario County Sheriff's Office reconstructed the crash.
The Hopewell Fire Department, Mercy Flight and Mercy Ambulance assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
