Investigation continues into apparent murder-suicide in Galen

Wayne County authorities are continuing an investigation into an apparent murder-suicide that happened earlier this week. Two people were found dead, and since an initial update immediately after first responders were called to the scene, none have been publicized.

However, a source close to the victims tells the Finger Lakes Times that the two were identified as Dele “Skip” Cole and his wife, Cheryl Cole. Both were 70-years-old.

Deputies found both people dead from gunshot wounds Wednesday at 11121 Route 31, just outside the village of Clyde.

A 911 dispatch indicated the man reportedly had a gun in his hand when the call was received around 11:30 a.m.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office continued investigating with assistance from Clyde police, state police, the Clyde Fire Department and Wayne County EMS.
