Ithaca's East Buffalo Street water and sewer project is now expected to stretch into the fall, according to 14850. The three-block closure between North Aurora Street and Stewart Avenue has been in place since March 9.
The project was originally expected to be finished in early July.
City officials said crews still need to install two more blocks of sewer main before beginning water main work.
The work has taken longer than expected because crews encountered significant rock along the route.
The city said eastbound traffic is being detoured from North Cayuga Street, while westbound traffic is being detoured from Stewart Avenue.
