Two years after Breen’s closure, Williamson residents have grocery gap

Williamson residents have limited fresh food options nearly two years after the town's only grocery store closed, according to News10NBC. The former Breen's Market location on Route 104 is now set to become a Taco Bell.

Residents must drive about five miles to the nearest grocery store in Ontario or rely on convenience stores with limited fresh produce and meat.

News10NBC reported that Speedway, Walgreens and Dollar General carry some basics but do not offer fresh fruit, vegetables or fresh meat.

The town has a farmers market on Tuesdays from 3 to 7 p.m., but it runs only from June 30 to Oct. 6.

The station said it contacted the Williamson town supervisor for comment but did not hear back.
