A 76-year-old Waterloo woman was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening after she was struck by a vehicle on Route 5&20, deputies said.
The collision involving pedestrian Adelaide Ward was reported at about 10:20 a.m. July 16 near 649 State Route 5&20 in the town of Waterloo, according to the Seneca County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Ward attempted to cross the highway and did not see an approaching westbound vehicle driven by Shubhya Muktapuran, 23, of Geneva. Witnesses told investigators they saw Ward walk into the roadway just before the impact.
Border City Fire and North Seneca Ambulance personnel treated Ward at the scene before she was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
Route 5&20 was closed until the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division completed its investigation.
