Volkswagen has released pricing for the redesigned 2027 Atlas, placing the three-row SUV directly against one of the segment’s strongest competitors, the Kia Telluride. The new Atlas costs more than before, but it also arrives with added power, upgraded cabin technology, and a more premium design. For families shopping for a spacious SUV, the latest numbers make a detailed comparison more important than ever.
2027 VW Atlas Pricing Starts Above the Telluride
The 2027 VW Atlas pricing begins at $41,610 for the front-wheel-drive SE before the $1,525 destination charge. That brings the entry price to $43,135. Adding Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system raises the base MSRP to $43,610. The SE with Technology starts at $45,610 with front-wheel drive and $47,610 with all-wheel drive.
By comparison, the gasoline-powered 2027 Kia Telluride LX starts at $39,190 before its $1,545 destination charge. Its entry price is about $2,400 lower after destination fees, giving Kia an immediate advantage for budget-focused shoppers. However, the price difference changes as buyers move toward fully equipped trims.
Higher Atlas Trims Add More Premium Features
Volkswagen has simplified the new Atlas lineup while adding more upscale equipment. The SE with Technology gains 20-inch wheels, illuminated exterior details, expanded ambient lighting, and a larger 15-inch touchscreen.
The SEL R-Line starts at $52,110 before destination and includes standard all-wheel drive. It adds sportier exterior styling, leather seating, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, and heated and ventilated second-row seats. The SEL Premium R-Line begins at $56,610 before destination. Its equipment includes Nappa leather, massaging front seats, 21-inch wheels, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
The top Atlas is slightly less expensive than the $56,790 Telluride X-Pro SX-Prestige before destination. That may attract shoppers who want luxury features without moving into a premium-brand SUV.
Atlas and Telluride Take Different Performance Approaches
The 2027 Atlas uses an updated turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 282 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and offers front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The Telluride also uses a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but it offers more torque and an available hybrid powertrain. The Telluride Hybrid produces 329 horsepower and delivers an EPA-estimated 35 mpg combined in the EX front-wheel-drive trim.
SUV Buyers Now Have a Closer Decision
The Telluride remains the less expensive choice at the entry level and offers broader powertrain options. The Atlas counters with more horsepower in its standard engine, a technology-focused interior, and competitive pricing at the top of the lineup. Buyers will need to compare equipment, fuel economy, interior comfort, and dealer pricing before deciding which three-row SUV offers the stronger overall value.
