A Monroe County man is being held in Steuben County after authorities said he assaulted two people during a violent domestic incident in Wayland, according to authorities. The Sheriff’s Office said one of the victims was a deputy who was investigating the July 16 report.
Daniel L. Beal, 57, of Rochester was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, second-degree robbery, third-degree assault, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
Authorities said Beal assaulted another person and forcibly stole money from that person.
The Sheriff’s Office said Beal then resisted arrest by strangling a responding deputy and trying to flee.
Beal was arraigned and sent to Steuben County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
