Mercedes-Maybach has presented its 2027 model year flagship SUV with improved performance, more luxurious cabin appointments and a more distinctive road presence. Revealed in Beverly Hills, California, the new model targets premium SUV buyers who want limousine-style comfort without giving up the space, elevated seating position, and all-weather capability of a full-size luxury vehicle.
2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 Brings More Power and Comfort
The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 receives a revised 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance. Output rises to 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, representing a clear increase over the outgoing model. Mercedes has also added balance shafts, extra insulation, and revised steering to make acceleration smoother, the cabin quieter, and the SUV more responsive on the road.
More Maybach Inside and Out
The exterior keeps the familiar GLS shape but adds details that separate the Maybach from other Mercedes SUVs. The front features a larger vertical-slat grille with an illuminated surround and illuminated Maybach lettering. Buyers can also select a lighted hood ornament, rose-gold headlight accents, chrome intake details, and new 22-inch or optional 23-inch wheels. The larger wheel design includes a center cap that keeps the Mercedes star upright while the vehicle is moving.
Mercedes is also expanding personalization choices through its Manufaktur program. New finishes include Dark Petrol and a Maybach-exclusive Dark Petrol and Verde Silver Metallic two-tone combination. Power-operated running boards extend when the doors open, while soft-close doors and signature welcome lighting enhance the arrival experience.
An Indulgent Interior
The cabin places a stronger focus on rear-seat passengers. The dashboard uses three 12.3-inch displays under one glass panel, supported by the latest MBUX technology and Mercedes-Benz Operating System. Maybach-specific graphics, rose-gold details, premium leather, and available hand-finished trim give the interior a more exclusive appearance.
Front and rear occupants can receive upgraded massage functions, while available executive rear seats add reclining support and calf massage. Optional 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens include integrated cameras for video calls. A refrigerator remains available, and the Burmester audio system gains additional speakers and a 710-watt amplifier. A multi-stage cabin air-filtration system is standard.
More Power and Less Noise
Ride comfort remains a major priority. Predictive damping can prepare the suspension for road imperfections, while the E-Active Body Control system uses multiple sensors to reduce unwanted body movement. The SUV also includes a dedicated Maybach driving mode tuned for smoother passenger travel.
Mercedes has not announced official pricing. The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 is built in Alabama and is expected to reach U.S. dealerships in late 2026. Pricing is likely to exceed the current model’s $181,350 starting price.
