Bath man charged after police say he threatened officer

A Bath man was charged after police said he threatened to strike an officer during an investigation near the One Stop convenience store on Liberty Street.

The Village of Bath Police Department said an officer saw Daniel B. Rumsey urinating in a parking lot next to the store around 9:39 a.m. July 11.

Police said Rumsey became irate while an appearance ticket was being issued and attempted to leave the scene.

When the officer tried to detain him, police said Rumsey threatened to strike the officer and made a fist with his hand.

Rumsey was taken into custody and transported to the Bath Police Department for processing, according to police.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree menacing, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Police said he was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Bath Village Court at a later date.
