The Village of Sodus Point is reminding residents that its new property maintenance law is in effect.
Village officials said trash and recycling totes may be placed at the roadside no sooner than 24 hours before scheduled collection and should be removed from the public right of way within 24 hours after collection.
Commercial and multi-family dumpsters must also be screened on three sides under the new law, according to the village.
Officials also reminded residents to follow the village's brush pickup rules and schedule, saying brush should be placed out only during designated collection periods.
The village said the rules are intended to reduce visual clutter, improve public safety and preserve the appearance of the community. Residents can review the law, enforcement provisions and fines at soduspoint.info.
