Newark Park Band marks America 250 with patriotic concert

The Newark Park Band celebrated America's 250th anniversary with a patriotic concert at the Central Park bandstand. Local musicians performed a program of familiar American favorites under the direction of conductor Bob Humphrey.

Residents gathered for the free summer concert, which blended music and community in recognition of the national anniversary.

The performance was part of the Newark Park Band's annual summer concert series, a longtime local tradition that brings live music to Central Park during the summer.

The band will continue its free Tuesday evening concerts through Aug. 4.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Park bandstand and are open to the public.

Residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
