New ice cream shop revives historic Seneca Falls building

A long-vacant downtown Seneca Falls building has reopened as the It’s a Wonderful Scoop ice cream shop after an extensive renovation, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

David Goldberg and Elissa Davidson purchased the 160-year-old former Calarco Bakery building at 77 Fall St., which had been empty for about a decade.

The shop opened June 18 and is expected to create 12 jobs while preserving a property that survived the 1890 fire that destroyed much of downtown.

Goldberg said Spotted Duck Creamery helped the owners launch the business and prepare for its grand opening.

Town officials also heard updates on downtown planning, facade improvements, public art and concerns about a condemned Cayuga Street property.
