The Cornell Feline Health Center will host its 2026 Fred Scott Feline Symposium in Ithaca from July 24 to July 26, offering continuing education for veterinary professionals focused on feline medicine.
The 38th annual symposium at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine will be available in person or virtually for veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary students.
The three-day event is designed to provide practical, evidence-based education for feline health care practitioners. The symposium is named for the late Dr. Fred Scott, whose work helped shape feline medicine and education.
This year's program includes lectures, interactive case discussions and hands-on learning covering infectious disease, gross and clinical pathology, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, endocrinology, diabetes management, shelter medicine and feline behavior. Attendees can earn up to 15.5 hours of continuing education credit.
Day One sessions include updates from the Cornell Feline Health Center Feline H5N1 Surveillance Consortium, interpretation of clinical blood smears, cancer cytology, high-quality high-volume spay and neuter practices, and interactive feline gross pathology.
Day Two sessions focus on emergency imaging and diabetes management, including abdomen and thorax imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, feline prediabetes, SGLT2 inhibitor use for feline diabetes and feline diabetes remission.
The final day includes presentations on endocrine disorders of the feline adrenal gland, acromegaly and diabetes in cats, and post-adoption behavior support for cats.
Speakers include experts from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and the Duffield Institute for Animal Behavior. The program also includes member programming, hospital and radiation oncology suite tours, wellness activities, networking events and a Cats, Wildlife and Us Dinner at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
Dr. Bruce Kornreich, director of the Cornell Feline Health Center, said the symposium is intended to bring experts together across disciplines while helping veterinary professionals apply practical knowledge in clinical settings.
Registration is open. Program details, speaker information, registration and event logistics are available at www.cornellfelinesymposium.org.
