Folk Art Guild Craft Weekend returns to Middlesex in August

The Folk Art Guild will host its 2026 Craft Weekend from Aug. 6-9 at East Hill Farm in Middlesex, offering classes in writing, drawing, theater, singing, seed preservation, photography and traditional crafts.

The annual event transforms the guild's studios, orchards and gardens into classrooms, with students learning in small groups under the guidance of experienced teachers.

This year's program includes two new offerings: theater and "Seeds and Songs of Resilience," a class led by Fruition Seeds co-founder Petra Page-Mann and Ithaca musician Tracy Robertson.

The theater class, led by Paul Schliffer and Jim Post, will use classical and modern texts, games and improvisation to help participants explore movement, connection and creative expression.

"Seeds and Songs of Resilience" will combine song, gardens, forest bathing, writing, reflection and rest. Organizers said the class is designed to explore how creative practices can support personal and collective resilience.

Other offerings include Writing as Attentional Practice with Nani and Curt Nehring Bliss, Photography and the Art of Seeing, Observational Drawing, Weaving, Woodturning and Pottery. Organizers said the weaving, woodturning and pottery classes are wait-list only, while photography and observational drawing still have limited space.

The weekend also includes farm-fresh meals prepared in the guild kitchen, evening activities, optional morning yoga and time to explore the 350-acre East Hill Farm property. Participants may stay overnight in the guild's dorm, camp on the grounds or commute.

Registration is available at folkartguild.org/craft-weekend-registration-2026. Questions about registration and lodging may be sent to folkartguild@gmail.com.
