Geneva General Hospital has received a three-year computed tomography accreditation from the American College of Radiology, recognizing the hospital's diagnostic imaging quality and patient-safety standards.
UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health announced the accreditation July 6, saying the designation applies to CT scanning, also known as CAT scanning, a noninvasive test used to help physicians diagnose and guide treatment for medical conditions.
The ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation is awarded to facilities that meet requirements based on ACR practice parameters and technical standards, according to the release.
Facilities are evaluated through peer review by board-certified physicians and medical physicists with expertise in the field. The review assesses image quality, personnel qualifications, equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
Jeff Murad, director of diagnostics at Finger Lakes Health, said the accreditation reflects the organization's commitment to high standards of care.
"This recognition demonstrates the expertise of our imaging team and our continued investment in advanced technology and services that help ensure patients have access to exceptional care close to home," Murad said.
Finger Lakes Health said the accreditation is part of its continued investment in expanding access to comprehensive health care across the Finger Lakes region. For patients, the designation provides added confidence that CT imaging studies are being performed under nationally recognized standards for quality, accuracy and safety.
