Aaron Judge, Cam Schlittler lead Yankees’ four All-Star selections

The New York Yankees will send four players to the All-Star Game, with captain Aaron Judge joined by rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler, first baseman Ben Rice and outfielder Cody Bellinger on the American League roster for the July 14 showcase in Philadelphia.

Judge earned a fan-elected starting spot despite being sidelined by injury, while Schlittler, Rice and Bellinger were selected through player and league voting after standout first halves helped keep New York in contention.

Judge secured his seventh All-Star selection after continuing to rank among baseball’s most feared hitters, even in a season interrupted by injury.

Schlittler has emerged as one of the majors’ biggest surprises, posting a 2.08 ERA with 123 strikeouts across 104 innings in his rookie campaign to establish himself as an early American League Cy Young contender.

Rice has enjoyed a breakout season, batting .270 with 24 home runs and 56 RBI, while Bellinger has rebounded with strong production at the plate and Gold Glove-caliber defense in the outfield.

Additional Yankees could still receive All-Star invitations as replacements if roster changes occur before the game.
