Geneva General says price transparency warning stemmed from error

Geneva General Hospital says a clerical mistake landed it on a federal price transparency warning list, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Hospital officials say the problem involved how information appeared in a file, not what patients would pay.

A hospital spokesperson said the issue involved a mislabeled heading in machine-readable pricing files, not inaccurate cost data. The hospital said it corrected the error and confirmed the update with federal regulators.

Hospital Watch had listed GGH among 18 New York hospitals warned over price transparency compliance. Other area hospitals named included Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira and Crouse Hospital’s Commonwealth Division in Syracuse.
