Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County will host a DIY Condiment Workshop on July 16 in Ovid, giving residents a hands-on way to learn how to make common pantry staples at home.
The workshop is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Ovid Fire Hall, 2136 Brown St., according to CCE Seneca.
The program will be led by CCE Seneca Master Food Preservers. Participants will learn how to make items such as mustard, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, ketchup, pizza sauce, pesto, dip mixes and salad dressings, including ranch, herb and Italian varieties.
Organizers said the class is intended to help participants make healthier versions of everyday condiments using wholesome ingredients while reducing unnecessary preservatives and added sugar and salt.
The cost is $10 per person and includes samples to taste and recipes to take home. Registration is required, and space is limited.
Residents can register online at senecacountycce.org. Those without internet access can call the CCE Seneca office at 315-539-9251.
CCE Seneca said people who need special accommodations should contact the office at 315-539-9251 or email seneca@cornell.edu.
