Ithaca Area Economic Development adds three board members

Ithaca Area Economic Development has appointed three new members to its board of directors following its quarterly meeting in June.

John Huhtala of Tompkins Community Bank and Justin Runke of Centralus Health were appointed to three-year terms, while Scott Doyle of Ithaca College will fill an annual appointment.

Doyle's seat was vacated by Tim Downs, who left Ithaca College earlier this month, according to the organization.

"It is a privilege to serve as Chair of this dynamic, 32-member board representing a wide array of our local economy," board Chair Jodi Lee Denman said in the announcement. "I welcome the newest board members and look forward to collaborating with them to support IAED's mission of building a thriving, prosperous Tompkins County."

Huhtala joined Tompkins in 2025 and serves as president of the Central New York market. IAED said he has nearly three decades of experience in commercial banking, sales and relationship management.

Runke is chief administrative officer and general counsel for Cayuga Health System. He has served there as a corporate health care attorney for five years after previously spending 20 years with Harris Beach PLLC.

Doyle joined Ithaca College in 2022 as director of energy management and sustainability after 15 years with the Tompkins County Department of Planning and Sustainability.

IAED President Kurt Foreman said the new board members join a group working with partners and staff on local economic development efforts.

Ithaca Area Economic Development is a private nonprofit economic development organization serving Ithaca and Tompkins County. The organization said it has worked since 1964 to grow, retain and attract companies that provide high-quality employment opportunities.
