Residents interested in serving on the Walworth Town Board will have an opportunity to interview for an open council seat during a special meeting next month following the resignation of Councilmember Linson.
The vacancy becomes effective July 1, and the person appointed by the Town Board will serve through Dec. 31, 2026.
Town officials announced they will conduct walk-in interviews during a special meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Town Hall meeting room, 3600 Lorraine Drive. No advance registration or application is required, and candidates will be interviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
To be eligible for appointment under New York law, candidates must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the Town of Walworth and a registered voter within the town at the time of the interview.
The Town Board will open the public meeting before immediately entering executive session to interview candidates individually regarding their qualifications and employment history, as permitted under New York’s Open Meetings Law.
Town officials encourage prospective candidates to bring a resume or brief statement of qualifications to the interview. The appointment will fill the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Dec. 31, 2026.
