A frightening bout with Lyme meningitis has one well-known Rochester meteorologist urging people to check for ticks after spending time outdoors, according to RochesterFirst.
Eric Snitil said he developed a high fever, severe neck pain and hallucinations days after hiking through thick woods while photographing a train in Letchworth State Park. Doctors suspected Lyme meningitis, and antibiotics helped him recover.
Snitil has returned to work but says some symptoms linger. He hopes others will perform tick checks and seek medical care quickly if they develop symptoms after outdoor activities.
