State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Sunday morning at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Slate Hill Road in the town of Marcellus.
Troopers said they responded around 10:10 a.m. June 21 for a serious personal injury crash involving a 2024 Subaru and a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
According to State Police, the Subaru was driven by Morgan L. Heise, 18, of Chaumont, who was traveling north on Slate Hill Road and had stopped at the intersection with Route 20.
Investigators said Heise then entered the intersection and failed to yield the right-of-way to the eastbound motorcycle.
The motorcycle’s 55-year-old male operator and 55-year-old female passenger were ejected and taken to Upstate University Hospital. Police said the female passenger was later pronounced dead, while the male operator remained hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Heise was not injured, according to State Police.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to assist with the investigation. Troopers said they were also assisted by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Marcellus Police Department, Marcellus Ambulance and Marcellus Fire Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
