Cayuga County Legislature to consider staffing, contracts and administrator search (video)

The Cayuga County Legislature is scheduled to meet Tuesday with a lengthy agenda that includes staffing changes, county contracts, public safety items and the next step in the county administrator search process.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. June 23 at the Ward O’Hara Agricultural Museum, 6880 East Lake Road, Route 38A, in Auburn.


Lawmakers are expected to consider appointments and reappointments to several boards, including the CNY Regional Planning and Development Board, Community Service Board, College Board of Trustees, Traffic Safety Committee and CCPUSA.

The Ways and Means agenda includes a proposed transfer of a junior accountant position from the Department of Social Services to the Finance Department, an employee assistance program agreement, a temporary easement in Sterling and allocation of New York State 250th anniversary funding.

Health and Human Services items include several position changes and contracts, including a rabies coordinator position, a public health educator position, a crisis intervention care manager position and contracts related to preschool special education services, wildlife services and senior meal delivery.

Planning and Public Works items include proposed purchases of new boilers for the County Court House building and Historic Post Office building, a three-year snow and ice removal agreement with towns and villages and filling a part-time laborer position in Parks and Trails.

Judicial and Public Safety resolutions include filling emergency services, sheriff’s office and STOP-DWI positions; adopting amended continuity of operations plans; a contract amendment for probation software hosting; a threat assessment and management software contract; and acceptance of a $19,000 STRIVE grant award for the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

The Legislature is also scheduled to consider an agreement with Pracademic Partners for organizational assessment, advisory services, search preparation and executive recruitment services related to the county administrator position.

Another legislative item would set a public hearing on extending authorization for videoconferencing at public meetings until July 15, 2028.

The Legislature’s next regular meeting is listed for July 28.
