Onanda Park store opening aims to enhance visitor experience in Canandaigua

Visitors to Onanda Park will soon have easier access to food, beverages and outdoor essentials as the Town of Canandaigua prepares to celebrate the opening of a new convenience store inside one of the park’s historic buildings.

Town officials announced the opening of Onanda Outpost, a collaboration between The Company Store and Onanda Park located in the park’s Babcock Building. The new business is designed to serve overnight guests, beach visitors and other park users without requiring them to leave the property.

According to the town, the store will offer food, snacks, beverages, ice cream, camping supplies, grilling essentials, firewood and other convenience items intended to make visits to the park more enjoyable. Officials said the addition is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Onanda Park’s role as a destination for outdoor recreation.

Parks Director Greg Reynolds said activating the Babcock Building with a visitor-focused service reflects the town’s commitment to investing in the park while maintaining the character that has made it a popular destination for generations.

Town officials said the store is expected to improve convenience for guests and encourage visitors to spend more time enjoying the park’s recreational opportunities and natural surroundings.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 30 at the Babcock Building in Onanda Park.
