A traffic stop in the Town of Ontario led to the arrest of a local woman on a driving while intoxicated charge, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Melissa Winter, 41, of Ontario was arrested June 14 after deputies stopped a vehicle on Knickerbocker Road. Authorities said the stop occurred after deputies observed the vehicle traveling 75 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.
Deputies conducted standardized field sobriety tests at the scene and subsequently arrested Winter on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where she submitted to a breath test that allegedly produced a blood alcohol content of .16%.
Winter was processed at the Wayne County Jail and later released with appearance tickets.
She is scheduled to answer the charge in Town of Ontario Court at a later date.
