Nearly 300 students inducted into FLCC honor society

Finger Lakes Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, welcomed 286 new members during the 2025-26 academic year, recognizing students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement.

The new members were inducted into FLCC’s Alpha Epsilon Chi chapter, which promotes scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship among students. Eligibility requires completion of at least 15 credit hours toward an associate degree and a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.

Students from across the Finger Lakes region were among those recognized, including eight from Seneca County. New inductees included Edward Hildreth and Idunn Reynolds of Interlaken; Shayelyn Hall and Elizabeth Natale of Ovid; Quiana Thevenot of Romulus; Taylor Dunlap, Hannah Gilbert, Alysa Huertas and Bobbie O’Connor of Seneca Falls; and Christopher Bastian, Christ Aerjil Dampog, Jayden Mansell, Julia Martin, Chloey Meldrum, Angelina Sgarlata, Jessica Sinicropi and Aubrey Westerberg of Waterloo.

Ontario County accounted for the largest share of new members, with dozens of students from Canandaigua, Geneva, Farmington, Victor, Clifton Springs, Naples, Phelps and other communities earning induction into the honor society.

Phi Theta Kappa’s Alpha Epsilon Chi chapter was chartered at FLCC in 1981 and offers students opportunities to participate in leadership development, community service and academic enrichment programs. The organization is one of the nation’s largest honor societies, recognizing high-achieving students attending community and junior colleges.

Students from 35 New York counties, New York City and several other states were included in this year’s induction class.
