86-year-old charged after striking officer during Canandaigua disturbance

A disturbance investigation in the City of Canandaigua led to the arrest of an 86-year-old man on multiple charges, including menacing, harassment and resisting arrest.

David A. Nesbitt, 86, of Canandaigua, was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. May 31 after police responded to a report of a disturbance on Wilcox Lane.

According to police, an investigation determined that Nesbitt allegedly attempted to enter a neighboring apartment before officers arrived. While being interviewed about the incident, Nesbitt allegedly picked up a metal bicycle pump and struck an officer in the forearm.

Police said Nesbitt then resisted efforts to take him into custody and began spitting at officers.

Nesbitt was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment, second-degree menacing and resisting arrest. He was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in City of Canandaigua Court at a later date.
