Ithaca wants more housing here

A proposed 48-unit apartment project on Ithaca’s West Hill got an unusual message from city leaders: build more housing, not more parking, according to The Ithaca Voice. Common Council members encouraged developers to expand the project and reduce the planned 48 parking spaces.

The proposal calls for four three-story apartment buildings on vacant land near the Whispering Woods apartment complex. Plans include a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, along with a playground and other site improvements.

Several council members said they wanted additional density, better pedestrian access, and stronger community benefits before approving a Planned Unit Development. Despite those concerns, the council unanimously agreed to move the proposal forward for a future public information session.
