Pam Helming, Trisha Turner honored by Republican women’s organization

Sen. Pam Helming and Ontario County Republican Chair Trisha Turner were honored by the New York State Federation of Republican Women during the organization’s 107th annual conference, receiving awards recognizing their leadership and service.

Helming, who represents the 54th Senate District, received the Legislative Women in Leadership Award. The federation cited her years of public service, including her work as a member of the Canandaigua Town Board, Canandaigua town supervisor, and her tenure in the state Senate since 2017. She was recognized for advocacy on behalf of veterans, law enforcement, farmers, small businesses, seniors and working families, as well as efforts related to environmental protection in the Finger Lakes region.

The organization highlighted Helming’s role in securing New York’s first state veterans cemetery at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery and her support for tax relief, rural emergency services and volunteer firefighter recruitment. She also serves on the Cornell AgriTech Advisory Council and represents New York on the National Conference of Insurance Legislators.

Turner, a Victor resident, received the Henrietta Wells Livermore Woman of the Year Award. She currently serves as chairwoman of the Ontario County Republican Committee and was recognized for her leadership in grassroots organizing and Republican Party activities across the state.

According to the federation, Turner previously served as president of the New York State Federation of Republican Women and currently serves as Finger Lakes regional Republican chair and president of the Ontario County Women’s Republican Club. She also has served as a regional director for the New York State Assembly, a member of the Victor Central School District Board of Education, and currently serves on the Victor Planning Board.

Federation President Heather Scribner said the awards recognize women whose leadership, service and dedication have strengthened their communities and the Republican Party throughout New York.
