Five members of the Keuka College baseball team were recognized for their success in both athletics and academics, earning spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Leading the group was senior Derek Novicki, who received the honor for the third time in his career. With the selection, Novicki became just the second player in program history to earn Academic All-District recognition three times. Joining him on the list were repeat honorees Alex Evans and Ian Ruhmel, while Evan Cuba and Hunter Corkran earned the distinction for the first time.
Novicki capped off his collegiate career with one of his strongest seasons, leading the Wolves with 46 hits while adding 11 doubles, two triples, and a grand slam during the Empire 8 Tournament. He also ranked among the team’s leaders in runs scored and RBIs. The Applied Mathematics and Finance graduate was a consistent presence on the Empire 8 President’s List throughout his time at Keuka.
Evans continued to be a key contributor offensively, leading the team with 27 runs scored and drawing 24 walks, tied for the second-highest single-season total in program history. Ruhmel started nearly every game in the outfield and posted a perfect fielding percentage, recording 120 putouts and four assists while leading the team with nine stolen bases.
Cuba made an immediate impact after transferring to Keuka, batting .381 with 40 hits, 30 RBIs, and a team-best three home runs and three triples. Corkran excelled both on the mound and in the classroom, making eight starts and maintaining a 3.98 GPA through his first two years.
The Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically, requiring at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA along with significant on-field contributions.
