According to investigators, a verbal altercation escalated when Estep allegedly displayed a hammer and threatened the victim, causing the victim to fear physical injury. Troopers recovered a metal hammer from the property and secured it as evidence.

Estep was charged with second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police said the felony weapons charge stems from a previous conviction.

After being processed at State Police in Painted Post, Estep was transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment.
