Victor woman charged with DWI after traffic stop in Penn Yan

A traffic stop in Penn Yan on Saturday afternoon led to multiple charges against a Victor woman after deputies reported observing a vehicle being driven erratically.

Suzanne K. Ritter, 65, of Victor, was charged with driving while intoxicated after Yates County Sheriff’s deputies stopped her vehicle on Liberty Street around 4:23 p.m. Deputies said Ritter showed multiple signs of intoxication during the investigation, which resulted in her arrest.

In addition to DWI and DWI per se charges, Ritter was charged with moving from a lane unsafely, following too closely, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without insurance and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked registration.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies also determined that Ritter was driving while both her driver’s license and vehicle registration were suspended. She was transported to the Yates County Jail for processing.

Ritter was later released on traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer the charges.
