Saturday’s Yankees-Red Sox game postponed due to rain

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox were unable to take the field Saturday night as severe weather forced the postponement of their scheduled matchup in the Bronx.

The game will be rescheduled as the opening contest of a split-admission doubleheader on August 29, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m.

Saturday’s game was originally slated for a 7:35 p.m. start but was delayed due to thunderstorms moving through the area. Officials initially hoped conditions would improve enough to play later in the evening, but after more than an hour of waiting, the decision was made to postpone the contest.

The scheduling change also impacts New York’s pitching plans. Right-hander Will Warren, who had been lined up to start Saturday, is now expected to take the mound Monday night when the Yankees open a series against the Cleveland Guardians. Right-hander Cam Schlittler remains on track to start Sunday’s series finale against Boston.
