An 18-year-old Ithaca man has admitted responsibility in a Schuyler County crash that killed his passenger, according to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office.
Michael A. Blake Jr. pleaded guilty in Schuyler County Court to second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a Class D felony, and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.
During his plea, Blake acknowledged consuming a combination of alcohol and drugs before operating a motor vehicle. Prosecutors said his impaired driving led to a collision that resulted in the death of a passenger in his vehicle.
District Attorney Jeremy Hourihan said Blake is scheduled to be sentenced on July 30. The case was investigated by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department, its Criminal Investigation Division, and New York State Police.
