Two charged after disturbance on Lakeshore Drive

A disturbance on Lakeshore Drive led to the arrests of two people after police responded to a report involving an intoxicated individual making suicidal statements.

William A. Cole, 35, of Farmington, and Hillary K. Hinckley, 35, of Palmyra, were arrested May 24 following the incident. Police said Cole appeared intoxicated and made remarks indicating he intended to harm himself.

According to police, Cole resisted officers as they attempted to take him into custody under the Mental Hygiene Law. After being handcuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle, he allegedly kicked a door, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Police said Hinckley slammed a vehicle door on an officer’s arm while officers were dealing with Cole. When officers attempted to arrest her on a second-degree harassment charge, she allegedly resisted. Both Cole and Hinckley were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in City Court at a later date.
